THE ROLE: The Management Accountant will play a pivotal role within the finance team, reporting directly to the Finance Director. This position involves the preparation of monthly management accounts and quarterly VAT returns for both the Professional Membership Organisation and the Charitable Trust. Responsibilities include variance analysis with commentary, preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP and the Charities SORP, and assisting with budget and forecast preparations. The role also involves providing occasional cover for the Payroll Officer and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within finance systems and processes.
THE PERSON: The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level and fully qualified with a recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA). A minimum of three years' experience in preparing management accounts and presenting to senior management is essential. The candidate should have experience in preparing VAT returns and an understanding of partial-VAT claims, as well as experience in preparing financial statements under the Charities SORP. Knowledge of SAGE200 Professional accountancy software is desired. Strong analytical and decision-making skills, along with previous experience in the Third Sector, will be highly advantageous.
