Head of HR - SME - Small Headcount

An innovative and commercial opportunity to join a professional services company in a broad and diverse Head of HR standalone role. 

The successful candidate must have solid experience in a standalone role within a small sized company, with a  headcount of 250 or less. You will be value driven with a focus on building a sustainable and high performing culture.

You will be CIPD Level 7 qualified or equivalent and have proven experience in a generalist HR role, with expertise in learning and development, performance, engagement and wellbeing.  

The Role:

  • Support the CEO and Director’s to deliver the three-year strategy and one-year business plans
  • Deliver a comprehensive and professional HR service that support company values and culture
  • Lead, guide and deliver on all employment life cycle activities
  • Coach and mentor managers to implement their line management responsibilities effectively
  • Advise on job design, selection and assessment techniques to ensure standards are maintained
  • Manage all recruitment activity to meet business needs, including the post-hire process
  • Manage the annual pay review and bonus scheme in conjunction with the CFO and CEO
  • Support performance, development and talent management frameworks
  • Implement new tools and approaches to drive overall performance
  • Support managers in effectively managing performance and creating personal development opportunities for their teams
  • Manage and implement benefits, rewards and wellbeing schemes
  • Promote communication, team work, wellbeing and engagement
  • Develop, review and update policies and procedures
  • Produce HR reports and manage the HRIS (implementation by 2022)
  • Implement monthly payroll actions in conjunction with Finance

Skills/Experience:

  • CIPD Level 7 qualification or equivalent
  • Solid experience within a standalone, generalist HR role
  • Experience within a small organisation 
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in L&D and performance management training
  • Passionate and driven
  • Commercial mindset: relates HR activity to business goals and makes balanced decisions
  • High integrity
  • Proactive and solution-orientated
  • Resilient, grounded and practical
