Senior Information Governance Analyst
Location: Central London (Hybrid)
Contract: Permanent | Full-time
Salary: £45,000- £52,000
The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Information Governance Analyst to join a leading regulatory organisation. You'll play a key role in ensuring compliance with data protection, FOI legislation and information governance requirements, while supporting transparency, accountability and risk management across the business.
The Role
Reporting to the Governance and Assurance Manager, you will lead on complex information governance matters, provide expert advice to stakeholders across the organisation and ensure compliance with data protection and information rights legislation.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading and coordinating responses to Freedom of Information requests and data subject rights requests, ensuring statutory deadlines are met
• Managing complex information requests, including researching, analysing, redacting and preparing responses
• Advising colleagues on disclosure obligations and information rights legislation
• Acting as the information governance lead for procurement activities, reviewing contracts, supplier due diligence and data processing arrangements
• Advising procurement and business teams on data protection and information security requirements
• Deputising for the Governance and Assurance Manager and Data Protection Officer as required
• Acting as a key contact for regulatory and compliance matters, including liaising with the Information Commissioner's Office where appropriate
• Conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and information governance risk assessments
• Identifying risks and providing practical recommendations to improve compliance and reduce organisational risk
• Providing expert advice to managers and stakeholders on data protection, privacy, information security, records management and transparency requirements
• Developing and delivering information governance training, guidance and awareness initiatives
• Drafting, reviewing and maintaining policies, procedures and governance documentation
• Monitoring compliance activities and preparing reports for senior stakeholders
• Investigating information governance incidents, breaches and complaints, identifying root causes and recommending improvements
Essential:
• Significant experience applying data protection legislation within an information governance role
• Experience managing Freedom of Information requests and data protection rights requests in a regulatory, healthcare or public sector environment
• Strong understanding of UK data protection legislation, information governance principles and compliance requirements
• Proven ability to research complex issues, analyse findings and provide practical recommendations
• Experience undertaking Data Protection Impact Assessments and risk assessments
• Experience developing policies, procedures and governance frameworks
• Ability to view governance issues within the context of wider organisational objectives and strategy
• A recognised Data Protection qualification
Desirable:
• Experience deputising for a Data Protection Officer
• Experience providing information governance support to procurement processes and supplier management activities
• Experience investigating information governance incidents and breaches
• Experience working closely with Information Security and IT teams
• Experience within a healthcare, regulatory or professional body environment
