Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized, adaptable, and detail-oriented Float Legal Secretary to provide support across multiple practice areas and teams for our Client based in the West End.

This role requires flexibility, strong multitasking skills, and the ability to seamlessly transition between assignments while maintaining a high level of professionalism and accuracy. The Float Legal Secretary will assist in ensuring smooth workflow within the firm by filling in during staff absences, peak workload periods, or as otherwise needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive legal and administrative support across various practice groups.
  • Draft, format, proofread, and edit correspondence, pleadings, contracts, and other legal documents.
  • Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate travel arrangements.
  • Open, maintain, and close client files in compliance with firm policies.
  • Handle court filings (electronic and physical) and monitor filing deadlines.
  • Answer and screen phone calls, relay messages, and liaise with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
  • Enter and track billable time, process expense reports, and assist with billing procedures.
  • Support case management by organising discovery, exhibits, and other case-related materials.
  • Adapt quickly to different teams and workflows, ensuring continuity of support.
  • Perform other related administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Legal Secretary in a London based law firm
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and court filing requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal practice management software.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible, dependable, and able to work effectively with a wide range of personalities and practice areas.
Preferred:
  • Experience in family law.
  • Familiarity with electronic filing systems and document management software.
