Policy & External Affairs Exec – 11 month FTC
South West London

My client, a well-established membership body based in South West London are looking for a Policy & External Affairs Executive to complete a maternity contact. You must have 4+ years’ experience of policy and stakeholder engagement activity within a membership body.

The Role

  • Continuously improving your knowledge and understanding of wider corporate governance, organisational risk and control arena.
  • Being the principal project manager for the major policy and research projects
  • Playing a senior and lead role in developing and communicating the views in policy and research products tailored for different audiences, disseminated through a range of communication channels. This will involve developing new policy and research projects in synergy with the organisational strategic objectives, including writing proposals for new projects.
  • Keeping abreast of key regulatory and public policy developments affecting the internal audit profession.
  • Carrying out research, including designing member surveys and undertaking interviews (along with other qualitative/quantitative analysis), as well as producing briefings and web content.
  • Occasionally speak and deliver presentations of a policy nature at external events and meetings


The Person
At least four years’ experience in similar policy roles, with demonstratable experience of playing a lead role in devising and running relevant policy and research related programmes/projects.

A sound knowledge of, and experience in, public policy/public affairs, with an understanding of government and regulatory sources, particularly as they relate to business and public sector governance, finance and management.

An analytical approach and a high standard of attention to detail.

IT skills (MS Office) - ideally at least intermediate in Excel.

Experience of contact database management.

A degree-level education.
