Location: Farringdon / Angel, London (hybrid working)
Contract: Permanent | Full-time

The Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen for a highly organised Standards and Advice Officer to join a specialist regulatory team based in Central London. This role is ideal for a legally trained professional who enjoys advising on complex issues, working collaboratively and contributing to professional standards within a structured environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Standards and Advisory Lead, you will play a key role in providing professional conduct advice and supporting the work of a standards committee responsible for maintaining codes of practice and guidance. You will manage a varied caseload of enquiries while also contributing to committee processes, projects and the development of internal best practice.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing advice on professional conduct matters via telephone and email, based on relevant codes and regulations
• Managing a busy caseload of enquiries, ensuring timely responses in line with KPIs
• Ensuring consistency, accuracy and quality in all advice provided
• Supporting the work of the Standards Committee and subcommittees, including preparing agendas, arranging meetings and drafting papers
• Taking minutes and assisting with documentation for committee and panel meetings
• Contributing to team projects and working groups linked to standards and governance
• Supporting the development of internal protocols and guidance
• Assisting with analysis of casework and advice trends
• Supporting the delivery of internal and external training activities
• Providing general administrative and operational support to the wider team as required
About You
You will be a detail-oriented and thoughtful professional with strong analytical and communication skills. You will be confident interpreting complex information and providing clear, practical advice, while maintaining a compassionate and fair approach to stakeholders.
Essential:
• A legal qualification or relevant legal training
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex issues and identify solutions
• Excellent written and drafting skills
• Clear, logical and practical approach to problem-solving
• Strong organisational and administrative abilities
• Excellent communication skills, including a confident telephone manner
• Strong IT skills
• A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively within a team
• A customer-focused mindset, with the ability to handle enquiries sensitively and fairly
Desirable:
• Experience working within a regulatory or professional body
• Experience providing professional advice in a structured framework
• Experience supporting committees or governance processes
